Good to know before you book
Pace. Active. Long days, standing room at festivals and clubs, late nights back to back.
Good to know. Festival days are long, hot and on your feet, often in rain or mud. Lineups are set by the festival, not by us. Rooms and passes are bought for your dates, so date changes depend on what is still available.
Weather and changes. Shows and studio visits run in all weather; if a venue cancels, we replace it with one of the same kind and tell you in writing.
Flights to New Orleans
Most of our guests fly in on their own, drive, or use miles, and the tour price does not include flights. If you would rather we handle it, we book round-trip economy flights on scheduled airlines to New Orleans and back, and the airport pickup on the tour dates is already included.

Group size
Up to 14 guests with one tour leader and a driver.
Meals
Breakfast daily and 2 dinners.
Age and ID
Adults only. Bring a photo ID: many clubs check it at the door whatever your age. More in our questions.
Which festival is which date?
The early April date is French Quarter Fest, the two late April dates cover the first and second weekends of Jazz Fest, and the late July date is Satchmo SummerFest in early August.
Are the festival tickets general admission?
Yes. Big Chief VIP passes for Jazz Fest are available as an upgrade; ask us when you book.
Can I change festival dates?
Only if tickets and rooms allow, because both are bought for that weekend.
What if it rains?
The festivals run in rain. Bring a poncho and shoes you do not mind getting muddy.
Five days in the city that invented jazz, staying in the Marigny a block from Frenchmen Street, with Preservation Hall, a brass band night uptown and the Natchez on the river.
Four days timed to SXSW in March or the Austin City Limits Festival in October, with passes, a hotel near the action and a tour leader who has done both many times.
